WORDS OF ADVICE



In generosity and helping others

BE LIKE A RIVER.

In compassion and grace,

BE LIKE THE SUN.

In concealing others’ faults,

BE LIKE THE NIGHT.

In anger and fury,

BE LIKE THE DEAD.

In modesty and humility,

BE LIKE THE SOIL.

In tolerance,

BE LIKE THE OCEAN.

Either you appear as you are or be as you appear.

On this SPIRITUAL WORKOUT WEDNESDAY, ask yourself who you are and who your authentic self is. What do you want to be? Who do you want to be? What must you change or remove from your life to become a more authentic Christian?

Fr. Marino H. Msigala, OFM Capuchin was born in Kibakwe, Mpwapwa, Dodama Tanzania, Africa, on January 23, 1978. He was ordained to the Ministerial Priesthood on July 12, 2012, by Archbishop Gervas John M. Nyaisonga. Following his service as Pastor in his home country of Tanzania, Father was commissioned to the Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Augustine in Pittsburgh, PA, where he was assigned studies and pastoral duty at Immaculate Conception Church in Dudley, PA. After he completed his Master's Degree at Villanova University, Father was reassigned to serve as chaplain and pastoral care at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He completed his ministry there and returned to Tanzania on May 7, 2024.

No one goes through life without experiencing fear. Fear contributes positively to defending (or at least warning) us against danger. However, if not managed, fear can weigh us down, knock us out, hold us back, destroy our peace of mind, force us to withdraw, and rob our hearts of happiness. Let us face our litany of human fears with the courage found in the power of prayer. Fear of failure. Fear of darkness. Fear of illness. Fear of rejection. Fear of discovery. Msigala, OFM Capuchin NOVEMBER: MONTH OF REMEMBRANCE As we begin November, the month of remembrance, we pray in a special way for our loved ones who have gone before us. Our faith teaches that the Church is comprised of three states of being. The Church Triumphant in heaven, the Church Militant on earth, and the Church Suffering in purgatory. One of the most beautiful things about the Church is that it is the Body of Christ. Whether it’s the Church on Earth, Heaven, or Purgatory, it is all one Body, and it is all connected. Our ability to intercede for one another comes through our interconnection in the Mystical Body of Christ. Praying for the Holy Souls in Purgatory is one of the beautiful ways of experiencing that reality.
