I AM THE NEW YEAR

I am the New Year. I am an unspoiled page in your book of time.

I am your next chance at the art of living. I am your opportunity to practice what you have learned about life during the past twelve months.

All that you sought and didn’t find is hidden in me, waiting for you to search it but with even more determination than in the past.

All the good that you sought but didn’t achieve is mine to grant when you focus on hope, on the new opportunity to find what you seek.

All that you dreamed but didn’t dare to do, all that you hoped but did not will, all the faith that you claimed but did not have—these slumber lightly, waiting to be awakened by the touch of a strong purpose.

I am the New Year. I am your opportunity to renew your allegiance to Him who said, "Behold, I make all things new." Revelation 21:5


On this SPIRITUAL WORKOUT WEDNESDAY, greet 2024 with a renewed sense of purpose, a stronger desire to believe, and a greater determination to serve. Seize the opportunity to make all things new in your life and perhaps in the lives of others.

Fr. Marino H. Msigala, OFM Capuchin was born in Kibakwe, Mpwapwa, Dodama Tanzania, Africa, on January 23, 1978. He was ordained to the Ministerial Priesthood on July 12, 2012, by Archbishop Gervas John M. Nyaisonga. Following his service as Pastor in his home country of Tanzania, Father was commissioned to the Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Augustine in Pittsburgh, PA, where he was assigned studies and pastoral duty at Immaculate Conception Church in Dudley, PA. After he completed his Master's Degree at Villanova University, Father was reassigned to serve as chaplain and pastoral care at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He completed his ministry there and returned to Tanzania on May 7, 2024.

No one goes through life without experiencing fear. Fear contributes positively to defending (or at least warning) us against danger. However, if not managed, fear can weigh us down, knock us out, hold us back, destroy our peace of mind, force us to withdraw, and rob our hearts of happiness. Msigala, OFM Capuchin NOVEMBER: MONTH OF REMEMBRANCE As we begin November, the month of remembrance, we pray in a special way for our loved ones who have gone before us. Our faith teaches that the Church is comprised of three states of being. The Church Triumphant in heaven, the Church Militant on earth, and the Church Suffering in purgatory. One of the most beautiful things about the Church is that it is the Body of Christ. Whether it’s the Church on Earth, Heaven, or Purgatory, it is all one Body, and it is all connected. Our ability to intercede for one another comes through our interconnection in the Mystical Body of Christ. Praying for the Holy Souls in Purgatory is one of the beautiful ways of experiencing that reality.
