OUR MOTHER’S JOURNEY

 As we celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend, let’s reflect on this poem and our own mother’s journey with us from conception until now. We all remember the expression, “What would Jesus do?” When facing challenges and making decisions, let’s ask ourselves, “What would mother do?”

The journey of a mother is the epitome of true love.
 The love shown to an unknown life
Is love that is pure, selfless, and priceless.

Like Christ, a mother forgets and forgoes her own worth,
 so that her children can have great worth.
 The journey of a mother leads
to the crossroad of life and death.

A choice that may be difficult to make
Yet the love in her heart leads,
so life wins over death.

The journey of a mother
is the foundation and
the price of your life.

On this Spiritual Workout Wednesday, let’s remind our mothers of their goodness and express our gratitude for all they did and continue to do for us. For our mothers who have gone before us, let us pray for them. Let the love and sacrifices our mothers made for us be the foundation of our relationship with others.

Fr. Marino H. Msigala, OFM Capuchin was born in Kibakwe, Mpwapwa, Dodama Tanzania, Africa, on January 23, 1978. He was ordained to the Ministerial Priesthood on July 12, 2012, by Archbishop Gervas John M. Nyaisonga. Following his service as Pastor in his home country of Tanzania, Father was commissioned to the Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Augustine in Pittsburgh, PA, where he was assigned studies and pastoral duty at Immaculate Conception Church in Dudley, PA. After he completed his Master's Degree at Villanova University, Father was reassigned to serve as chaplain and pastoral care at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He completed his ministry there and returned to Tanzania on May 7, 2024.

No one goes through life without experiencing fear. Fear contributes positively to defending (or at least warning) us against danger. Msigala, OFM Capuchin NOVEMBER: MONTH OF REMEMBRANCE As we begin November, the month of remembrance, we pray in a special way for our loved ones who have gone before us. Our faith teaches that the Church is comprised of three states of being. The Church Triumphant in heaven, the Church Militant on earth, and the Church Suffering in purgatory. One of the most beautiful things about the Church is that it is the Body of Christ. Whether it’s the Church on Earth, Heaven, or Purgatory, it is all one Body, and it is all connected. Our ability to intercede for one another comes through our interconnection in the Mystical Body of Christ. Praying for the Holy Souls in Purgatory is one of the beautiful ways of experiencing that reality.
