If you were rejected, choose acceptance. If you were shamed, choose compassion. If you were betrayed, choose loyalty. If you were maligned, choose kindness. On this  SPIRITUAL WORKOUT WEDNESDAY , be the person you needed when you were hurting, not the person who hurt you. Vow to be better than what broke you. Promise to heal instead of becoming bitter so you can act from your heart, not your pain.

WORKOUT WEDNESDAY A Midweek Spiritual Workout with  Fr. Marino H. Msigala, OFM Capuchin PRAYING THE EXAMEN St. Ignatius Loyola developed a simple life-changing prayer entitled The Examen. The Examen is a method of reviewing your day in the presence of God. It’s an attitude more than a method, a time set aside for thankful reflection on where God is in your everyday life. It has five steps, which most people take in order, and usually takes 15-20 minutes daily. Here it is in a nutshell: ASK GOD FOR LIGHT. I recall and see my day with God’s eyes, not merely my own. GIVE THANKS. I’m grateful because I know that the day I have just lived is a gift from God. REVIEW THE DAY. I carefully look back on the day invoking the guidance of the Holy Spirit. FACE YOUR SHORTCOMINGS. I acknowledge what is wrong in my life, in my heart, in my soul, and in me. LOOK FORWARD TO TOMORROW. I ask God where, when, and how I need Him to be with me in the day to come. On this SPI

Msigala, OFM Capuchin WORKS OF MERCY; MERCY WORKS The word mercy is derived from the Latin word misericordia , which combines pity, compassion, or having a heart for another. This is an expression of heartfelt compassion for others, one that pushes us to act, to help, to understand, and to forgive . These are the CORPORAL WORKS OF MERCY: Feed the hungry. Give drink to the thirsty. Clothe the naked. Visit the imprisoned. Shelter the homeless. Visit the sick. Bury the dead.   These are the SPIRITUAL WORKS OF MERCY: Counsel the doubtful. Instruct the ignorant. Admonish the sinner. Comfort the afflicted. Forgive offenses willingly. Bear wrongs patiently. Pray for the living and the dead.   On this SPIRITUAL WORKOUT WEDNESDAY , review the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy.
