DON'T QUIT!

WORKOUT WEDNESDAY

A Midweek Spiritual Workout with Fr. Marino H. Msigala,
OFM Capuchin

DON’T QUIT!

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low, and debts are high,
And you want to smile but have to sigh.
When care is pressing, and you’re down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is strange with its twists and turns,
As every one of us eventually learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won if he'd stuck it out,
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You might succeed with another blow.

Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup.
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown,

Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver lining of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

For we know the Father above looks down,
He sees our struggles and holds the crown.
He knows the way though it’s rough and drear,
He will give strength, so we need not fear.
He offers you the refreshing cup
Of the water of life, then in faith look up.
Continue on ‘till the crown is won
He will give it when your work is done!

On this Spiritual Workout Wednesday, let’s take to heart this two-word message, “Don’t Quit!” You may be physically tired; don’t quit! You may be emotionally exhausted; don’t quit! You may be spiritually dry; don’t quit! You may be intellectually fatigued; don’t quit! Keep on going in the knowledge that the Lord is at your side and will not abandon you. This week think about this ten-word exhortation, “If it is to be, it is up to me…and the Lord! And He won't quit on me!
